Why you'd want to live in Ventura

The City of San Buenaventura, better known as Ventura, sits an hour from LA, between Malibu and Santa Barbara. Despite its proximity to the two, the atmosphere here is much more laid back, it is, and always will be a beautiful surf town. The city has it roots in fishing and agriculture but a generation of young entrepreneurs are transforming the economy, with the city now boasting multiple major multinational corporations, and tourism is on the rise. The compact but diverse downtown area offers an array of excellent food at a fraction of what it costs elsewhere on the Southern California coastline, and some great shopping. The Ventura Unified School District boasts three great high schools. One of them, Foothill Technology High School has a 10/10 rating on Greatschools.com, and has been a distinguished high school since 2005.
